It can therefore provide accurate warpage prediction of complex engineering products.
  • Realistic multi-shot process simulation: Moldex3D simulates the interactions in multi-shot processes, such as insert molding and two-color molding. It includes the thermal effects of the later shot(s) on the previous shot(s). It also considers the anisotropic material properties of either shot if fiber-reinforced material is used.
  • Fully transient thermal simulation: Moldex3D simulates the mold temperature dynamics realistically. It calculates the time-dependent thermal interactions among cavities, hot runners, heaters and cooling lines. Therefore, it is very capable of simulating the important Rapid Heating Cooling Molding (RHCM) process and molds with special electric heaters.
  • Advanced material property prediction: Moldex3D supports advanced viscoelastic models to accurately predict flow-induced residual stress. It also predicts the refractive indexes, fringed patterns and birefringences to help users design better optical parts.
  • Advanced process simulation: Moldex3D also simulates special and advanced processes such as optical molding, gas-assisted injection molding and reactive injection molding, etc.
  • High performance parallel computing: Moldex3D supports multi-core, multi-CPU and multi-PC parallel computation. By using native domain decomposition approach, Moldex3D shows excellent speed up as the number of CPU-core increases.
  • Interfaces with structural CAE: Moldex3D interfaces with major general-purpose CAE by exporting its process-induced results, such as part temperature, cavity pressure, fiber orientation, residual stress, anisotropic material properties, etc.
