What is TAITherm?
TAITherm heat transfer software is a professional thermal simulation tool for comprehensive CAE analysis of your product for both steady state and transient heat transfer conditions. Armed with a complete temperature distribution and heat rates for radiation, conduction, and convection, your team can maximize engineering design tradeoffs in the early stages of development and then optimize and validate the final product designs. TAITherm's highly efficient Graphical User Interface and numerically optimized solver provide your team with comprehensive heat transfer solutions and a fast ROI. Join the many leading simulation teams who use TAITherm to achieve faster time-to-market and reduced testing costs.
TAITherm is equipped with everything but your CAD mesh: pre-processing for conductivity and mesh normals, boundary condition set up, an optimized thermal solver, and post processor / results viewer. With minimal effort you can analyze 3D conduction, total radiation exchange, and convection/advection under realistic boundary conditions including natural environments. All functions are integrated into one carefully designed graphical user interface, allowing users to analyze designs with simplicity, speed, and accuracy. TAITherm's highly-optimized algorithms handle even the most complex heat transfer problems.
Written entirely in modular C++, TAITherm maintains speed and file compatibility across platforms. A state-of-the-art voxel-based ray tracer is used to compute radiation view factors and solar projected areas. This ray tracer provides the fastest radiation exchange solver on the market. Compiled user routines and easily edited scripts allow engineers to include functions like feedback control systems. For expert programmers, a cross-platform C++ API is also available.
Key Features & Benefits
TAITherm heat transfer software lets you develop solutions to comprehensive heat transfer design problems. TAITherm is a professional thermal modeling program that predicts the full heat transfer solution for your product or system. From the temperature or heat rate results, you can modify your system or component design and test the system's response to the change. For example, active and passive cooling techniques can be tested for cost-benefit analysis. With TAITherm, you are able to analyze complex, coupled heat transfer problems by solving for conduction, radiation, and convection under both steady-state and transient conditions.
TAITherm is the industry benchmark for speed, accuracy, and flexibility. Faster setup with parametric parts and rapid heat transfer analysis save you time and money. This translates into better customer focus and quicker time to market. Import your surface geometry and change designs with ease. Manipulate the geometry within TAITherm to improve your thermal management design. Sophisticated integration with CFD allows the analyst to employ 3-dimensional convection from all major CFD applications, while leveraging TAITherm's power for system-level transient analysis.
TAITherm answers key thermal design questions from early concept studies to validation with benchmark speed, resolution and accuracy. The intuitive Graphical User Interface keeps your heat transfer simulation on target - no wasted time with clumsy data files. As the simulation is computed, the analyst can view detailed thermal results during the solution process, and then at the end of solution in the post processor. Rather than just looking at plots or static thermal images, we offer a free viewer called ViewTherm for full 3D animation over time of your heat transfer simulation. Your management can review the results and share design improvements with other teams. With the ability to use scripts for “batch” solutions, you can queue up a batch of models for analysis overnight or over the weekend and thus make the most of your human resources by focusing on setup and analysis during business hours.
TAITherm, when combined with our powerful human thermal comfort module, allows design engineers to develop total thermal solutions to their automotive cabin designs thus reducing fuel/energy usage and increasing occupant thermal comfort. The Human Comfort Module is an advanced plug-in for analyzing human thermal comfort within complex environments: indoor, outdoor, and in transportation systems. Our Human Comfort plug-in allows users to place virtual test dummies into these environments, and compute comfort indexes.
Other advanced specialty modules include the solid 3D conduction solver and the battery thermal-electric plug-in. Solid objects can be imported using a volume mesh and the internal temperature distribution solved under steady-state or transient conditions. This enables improved accuracy for objects with complex internal conduction pathways, low-density objects where thermal diffusion is of interest, and where cross sectional visualizations are important for communicating results.
The Battery Module performs a coupled thermal-electrical analysis of a battery cell or pack and supports both charging and discharging states to capture realistic time-varying loads and charges. Integrated cooling systems with conductive plates, liquid heat exchangers, or forced air can be tested and the entire battery system integrated into a full vehicle or subsystem model. Virtual driving schedules can be imposed and matched to track global location and weather data to validate a design against established vehicle test protocols. These sophisticated modules in conjunction with TAITherm provide the capability to optimize HVAC systems, predict thermal gradients within complex structural designs, and analyze Lithium-Ion batteries at the cell, pack, or system level.
Cross-platform: TAITherm provides Windows, Sun, SGI, HP, and Linux identical interfaces.
