RadTherm is equipped with everything but your CAD mesh: pre-processing for conductivity and mesh normals, boundary condition set up, an optimized thermal solver, and post processor / results viewer. With minimal effort you can analyze 3D conduction, total radiation exchange, and convection/advection under realistic boundary conditions including natural environments. All functions are integrated into one carefully designed graphical user interface, allowing users to analyze designs with simplicity, speed, and accuracy. Written entirely in modular C++, RadTherm maintains speed and file compatibility across platforms. The Human Comfort Module is an advanced plug-in for analyzing human thermal comfort within complex environments: indoor, outdoor, and in transportation systems. Our Human Comfort plug-in allows users to place virtual test dummies into these environments, and compute comfort indexes.
Other advanced specialty modules include the solid 3D conduction solver and the battery thermal-electric plug-in. Solid objects can be imported using a volume mesh and the internal temperature distribution solved under steady-state or transient conditions. This enables improved accuracy for objects with complex internal conduction pathways, low-density objects where thermal diffusion is of interest, and where cross sectional visualizations are important for communicating results.
The Battery Module performs a coupled thermal-electrical analysis of a battery cell or pack and supports both charging and discharging states to capture realistic time-varying loads and charges. Integrated cooling systems with conductive plates, liquid heat exchangers, or forced air can be tested and the entire battery system integrated into a full vehicle or subsystem model. Virtual driving schedules can be imposed and matched to track global location and weather data to validate a design against established vehicle test protocols.
